Macedonia
After leaving Albania and already wanting to return, we were a little unsure of what to expect from its neighboring country Macedonia. Having not really any knowledge on the country, we just looked at the map and picked an area with a lake that looked interesting so ended up in Ohrid - another UNESCO world heritage town. Apart from camping, we've been using Airbnb which has been working a treat! We found a lovely little apartment right on the lake which we were quite excited to get to. However, 'Lazo' met us out the front of what was meant to be the apartment and then drove us to another apartment, you guessed it, not so close to the lake! After riding for a couple of hours, we were in no state to argue with him so agreed to stay. It turned out to be fine and the walk to town was only a short 10mins. This little town was the complete opposite to Albania. The streets were clean, restaurants and bars everywhere and lots of people. From here, we picked another lake (it's so hot so whenever possible we are picking places where we can swim!) Following directions to a campground, we arrived to find a very deserted area with a few random caravan shells, which although showing signs of what used to be a great camp spot on the lake, was no longer in any state to spend a night in. So, we ended up in an apartment with a huge balcony overlooking the lake- some things are just meant to be!
Overall, we blasted across Macedonia quite quickly over some very fast roads, so there's not too much more to report.
Next stop..... Greece.
