Slovenia

Slovenia was a brief but memorable part of the journey. We spent our first night in a campsite on the shores of Lake Bled, along with a diverse range of travellers from all over the world. After a long day on the road and in mechanics' workshops, a swim was bang on. The next day we traversed the whole of Slovenia from north to south via backroads with a lunch stopover in the capital, Ljubljana which is a beautiful little city. We made our way to the Croatian border in search of a campground and some food. The riding was extremely picturesque but kept us on our toes with plenty of tight and blind bends and a more unpredictable surface - a contrast to the wide, butter smooth roads of Germany and Austria. We couldn't find either a campground or food, so we had to cross into Croatia for dinner before riding back into Slovenia to camp on somebody's "private" campsite on the Kolpa river.
